According to Mariann Raisma, director of the Museum of the University of Tartu and author of the idea of the exhibition, the project was based on the desire to document the people who shape the university today and make it in the form of an art project. "The desire was to portray the people in different fields together with some historical objects, thereby emphasizing the historic continuity of the university and how this person is attached to this particular field of science." The objects selected for the portraits mostly originate from the collections of the University of Tartu, but personal items belonging to portrayed persons have also been used. The first presentation of the pictures took place on November 30, 2017, at the main building of the University of Tartu and at the Museum of the University of Tartu.

The photo exhibition celebrates the 100th anniversary of the national university.
