Kihelkonna Song Festival

Terrific Song Festival at Kihelkonna Song Festival Grounds in Saaremaa! Over 300 singers, dancers and musicians participate. In addition, there will be a dance party with Untsakad, brass orchestra, joint singing and dancing!

For the 9th time already, a song festival is held on one of the islands of Estonia. The start was made in 2010 on the outskirts of Ruhnu Island, and this summer the festival reaches the largest island - Saaremaa. Song festivals have also taken place in Vilsandi, Prangli, Vormsi, Naissaar, Hiiumaa, Kihnu and last year in Muhu, which was also the opening event of a new song festival grounds of Muhu.

The party begins on Saturday with a procession from the Kihelkonna Community House, followed by the lighting of the song festival fire and a concert at the Kihelkonna Song Festival Grounds. In the evening, there will be a dance party with a band Untsakad.

On Sunday morning, a traditional brass orchestra concert will be held with a joint singing by the carillon of Kihelkonna Church.

More than 300 choir singers, dancers and musicians participate. Performers include Kihelkonna mixed choir, Estonian Public Broadcasting mixed choir, EÜE Väinameri mixed choir, mixed choir of Tartu Folk High School, Pagana mixed choir, brass orchestra Saku, folk dance group Tarbatu, Untsakad and many others. Conducted by Indrek Vijard, Hirvo Surva, Lauri Breede, Kalev Lindal, Ants Reinhold and others.

6 p.m. Opening procession of the song festival starting from the Kihelkonna Community House, the lighting of the song festival fire and a concert at the Kihelkonna Song Festival Grounds.
10 p.m. Dance party with Untsakad at the Kihelkonna Song Festival Grounds.

Sunday, July 22, 2018

12 noon. Concert by the brass orchestra. Joint singing and festive finishing of the party by the carillon of the Kihelkonna Church.

The 100th birthday of the Republic of Estonia is celebrated with the festival.

All events are free for the audience!
